The search for the South West’s most impactful women has officially begun! Following a successful launch at an International Women’s Day event in Plymouth, nominations for the West Country Women Awards 2026 are now open.
This year’s theme, aligned with UN Women’s “Rights, Justice, Action,” emphasizes the importance of celebrating women who make a difference in business, leadership, and community life across the region.
Key Highlights from the Launch:

The “Ripple Effect”: Founder Alexis Bowater OBE highlighted the power of women supporting one another and the waves of change created when female leaders share their stories.

Focus on Justice: Assistant Chief Constable Nikki Leaper and Commissioner Alison Hernandez spoke candidly about the challenges of misogyny and hateful social media comments faced by women in leadership, reaffirming their commitment to combating violence against women and girls.

A Growing Movement: The launch event saw over 250 attendees and featured speakers from the police, education, and charity sectors.
